[:en]According to a thorough study conducted in August by the Strategic Communications Cabinet on the best cities in Mexico, Nuevo Laredo is one of the top 10 cities with the highest satisfaction rate among its inhabitants.

This northern city shares this high rating with San Pedro Garza García and Guadalupe in Nuevo León; Mazatlán in Sinaloa; Saltillo in Coahuila; Chihuahua in Chihuahua; and Reynosa in Tamaulipas, as well as Aguascalientes in the central state of Aguascalientes, and Mérida, in the southern state of Yucatán.

In the newspaper, El Gráfico, Nuevo Laredo figures prominently in the list of  Mexico’s most liveable cities, «there is trust among its citizens and institutions, which creates unity, a sense of belonging and positions the city as a good place to live in».

The Strategic Communications Cabinet revealed that ,in order to be on the list of best cities in Mexico, it was important to use the survey of citizens conducted in 2018 by the expert group in research and public communications.

According to the study, the majority of the 10 cities in Mexico with the best quality of life are located in the northern region of the country. The Most Livable Cities in Mexico 2018 Survey places more weight on its inhabitants’ decision to live there, than on the reports of violence.

Fortune in Spanish concluded  that the research conducted between March and April of this year included «the view of experts in various subjects and sought to be a comparative guide for people make better decisions based on cultural, social and political issues of specific localities.

Among the topics of this research were issues such as drainage, public lighting, paving services, health, wifi performance, knowledge of the authorities’ management skills and abilities as mayors and high municipal officers, the performance of governors and their capacity to solve problems.

According to 30,400 citizens of 76 cities in the country and the 16 municipalities of Mexico City, the city of San Nicolás de los Garza, in the northern state of Nuevo León, was listed as the best city to live in Mexico. The majority of respondents acknowledged that they benefit from high quality services, ideal conditions for investment and growth opportunities. On the other hand, the State of Mexico and Mexico City were rated the lowest in quality of life.

Russia Today indicates that among the less favored cities to reside are the southern cities of Tuxtla Gutiérrez and Tapachula, in Chiapas; Chilpancingo, in the central state of Guerrero; Lázaro Cárdenas, in Michoacán; Tehuacán, in Puebla; Ecatepec, in the State of Mexico; as well as Mexico City’s municipalities-Tláhuac, Iztapalapa and Iztacalco.

In Reporte Indigo ’s assessment on the study made by the Strategic Communications Cabinet, it stressed that it offers hard data on «the cities in Mexico with the best conditions to invest and live, and those that have better opportunities for growth and improvement in the next 10 years».  The research incorporated a new concept for its measurement: social cohesion, which studies the level of trust that members of these communities have in their institutions, a high sense of belonging, productivity, the best quality of life and the best economies.[:]
